One of the most popular options that has come out recently is the Elgato Stream Deck, a customizable control pad that allows streamers to switch scenes, launch media, or do anything else they can think of on the fly. While quickly switching scenes in Twitch can be done through Streamlabs OBS relatively easily, there are other options available for people to utilize. Once you've configured all of your hotkeys, make sure to select done to save.Select the text box and input whatever hotkey you'd like to set it.In each scene, scroll to the bottom option, which will read "Switch to Scene.".One-touch, tactile operation lets you switch. Scroll down until you see the scenes that have been configured. 15 LCD keys poised to launch unlimited actions eliminate the need to map and memorize keyboard shortcuts.Once there, select Hotkeys on the left side tab of options.Navigate to the top right corner and click on the gear icon, which will take you to the Settings.

How to quickly switch scenes in your Twitch broadcast Thankfully, Streamlabs OBS makes this fairly simple, and since that's one of the most used platforms when it comes to streaming, we'll be showing you how to quickly switch between streams while using it. I'm using actions to open and close applications, trigger keyboard shortcuts, send tweets, toggle my lights and change their brightness and color, switch profiles, and much more.Setting up scenes is relatively easy, but switching between them quickly can be tricky. There aren't many global settings of any significance on the Stream Deck, so I'm more interested in sharing my profiles and multi-actions with you.Īs you can see, I'm using a combination of profiles (which I use sort of like scenes-one for day to day, one to prep for a stream, one during solo streams, one during guest streams) and multi-actions (to combine multiple steps that always happen at the same time together). you may have a "streaming" profile and a "recording" profile.

  • Profiles: Different states the key-to-action map can be in each profile can have its own unique mapping for each key, and one possible action a key can be assigned to is to switch profiles.
  • Multi-actions: A tool allowing you to group multiple actions into one, therefore triggering more than one action with a single key press.
  • Actions: Things you can make happen when a key is pressed e.g.
  • Keys: The actual physical buttons on the device.
  • There are a few important concepts when it comes to Stream Decks: You can see the right column is a list of possible actions, the top of the left column is either a grid of keys (if I'm editing a profile) or a column of actions (if I'm editing a multi-action button), and the bottom of the left column allows me to customize the current action or multi-action I have selected. Here's what that tool's user interface looks like:

In order to customize your Stream Deck, you'll install an app on your computer that lets you create profiles and assign actions to keys. There are enough options that I don't have to swap between folders during any given scenario, but it's not massive like the XL. I personally have the standard and I think it's a fantastic size. Here are links to all three, if you're interested: There are three sizes of Stream Deck, but the standard 16-key is the only one you can find easily on Amazon. I'm using firefox latest version without any modifications, and these shortcuts work fine on other sites (e.g.

If you want to get a bit fancier with Stream Deck, though, you can also organize your actions into "profiles" (sort of the different pages of apps in the iOS home screen), or create "multi-actions", which trigger more than one action when you press a single key. Another one would be to engage full screen, which is supposedly done with ctrl+f, but this, as well as any other key presses, open the browser search bar instead. The simplest and most common uses for Stream Decks are toggling mics, switching scenes in OBS, playing sounds, and triggering actions in other tools like Twitter. But there are also some other broadly useful integrations, like media controls, social media push, and more. The actions you can take are primarily targeted at streamers, so many integrations work with streaming tools like OBS and control mics and screens.

There are three sizes, and each is essentially a mini keyboard where each key can be customized to show any icon you want and take any of a series of actions when pressed. FIGURE 3-6: Xbox's Quick Menu offers shortcuts to a variety. The Stream Deck is a class of hardware device created by Elgato. Press the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the Quick Menu. So, let's take a look at this little device that powers so much of my streaming. When I wrote my post about getting started live streaming, I wanted to share my Stream Deck setup as well, but I figured it was a bit more appropriate in its own post.
